American International School Kuwait (AIS) is an accredited co-educational independent day school that offers 3 IB Programmes Pre-K through Grade 12.
There are more than 3,000 IB Schools around the globe, but fewer than two hundred of those are authorized kindergarten through grade twelve. American International School Kuwait (AIS) share that distinction with pride and a great sense of accomplishment.

The school opened in 1991 after Kuwait was liberated from occupying Iraqi forces. Dr. Kamil Al Rayes, the founder, sought to create a school of high caliber with a rigorous, and nurturing atmosphere that would provide opportunities for Kuwaiti and international students to gain access to the world’s best universities. In October of 1994, it became fully accredited and in the ensuing years dedicated professionals worked hard to develop what has become an excellent university preparatory school with 1600 students. The school relocated from Surra to its present location in Salmiya.

English is the primary language of instruction. Their international student population hail from over forty-seven countries globally. The school has an outstanding extracurricular programme that offers a wide-variety of activities in sports and the creative arts. There is an active Model United Nations (MUN) club and every year, their students travel to the annual Assembly in The Hague.

The campus has nearly one hundred teaching spaces that surround two interior courts. The school facility also include two gymnasia, several outdoor sports areas, rooftop soccer field, music and theatre spaces, strength training and aerobics rooms, as well as a 1270 seat auditorium (the largest amongst schools in Kuwait). The Learning Commons offers a collaborative space for student inquiry, instructional coaching, and collaboration and houses a large consolidated K-12 library/media center with a large fiction, non-fiction, and Arabic collection.

Graduates of AIS attend dozens of English language universities in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. The complexity of international student body layered with an ethnic diversity of the Middle East provides a stimulating and endlessly fascinating environment for the students.
