American United School is an internationally diverse school community with over 35 nationalities represented in grades Pre-K - 12.
American United School (AUS) is located in the Sabah Al Salem Area of Kuwait at the Intersection of 6th Ring Road and Fahaheel Expressway. Their commitment to the mission and learning experiences that AUS students receive begins with prekindergarten and continues through to graduation. The success of obtaining a 10 year CIS/MSA Accreditation status is a testimony to their commitment to excellence.

The first phase of the facility, the elementary building opened September, 2013. Gaining approval/license from the Kuwait Ministry of Private Education required a name change and, therefore, American University School became American United School.

The prekindergarten through Grade 10 core subjects are delivered through the framework of Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and National Standards for Social Studies (NSSS). Extended core subjects such as, French, Spanish and Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL) employ the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards. The Arts program operates under the umbrella of the National Core Arts Standards (NCAS). The physical education department utilizes the National PE Standards.

Phase I opened September 2013 for Pre-kindergarten through Grade 5. The student body expanded in August of 2014, with the opening the Middle School Grade 6 through 8 using the top floor of the existing Elementary structure. In August of 2015, Phase II opened with purpose-built areas for Middle and High School.

The colorful elementary classrooms form grade-level “communities,” where classrooms cluster around a shared breakout space for small group instruction. A two-story Information Center (Library) completes this instructional space.

The AUS campus also features four playground areas. The building has two basements which house the school cafeteria, art and music studios, multipurpose rooms for physical education as well as a regulation size gym with two swimming pools plus a jogging track. They have created a roof top sports arena that includes areas for soccer, tennis, badminton, basketball and a 460 square meter skateboard park. These areas provide spectator seating as well as locker rooms and a kiosk for refreshments.
