Average salaries of Kuwaitis grew by KD113 percent in five years

The recent official statistics reveal that the average monthly salary of Kuwaitis in the public and private labour market has grown by KD113 per month over the last five years.

As of end of last year, the average monthly salary was KD1491, in comparison to KD1378 per month five years ago.

The comparison as per recent labour market statistics issued by the Central Statistical Bureau reveal that the average monthly salary of Kuwaitis in the government sector in the five-year period ranging 2016 to 2021 grew by KD82.

While it was KD1457 per month in 2016, it increased to KD1539 per month in December 2021.

The figures indicate that the increase in monthly salary of Kuwait men in the government sector was more than double the growth in average salaries of Kuwaiti women. The average increase in salary for Kuwaiti men was KD148 while that of Kuwaiti women was just KD58.

Towards end of 2021, the average monthly salary of Kuwaiti men in the government sector was KD1874 and that of Kuwaiti women is KD1312.

Meanwhile, statistics reveal that the average monthly salary of Kuwaiti employees in the private sector grew by KD188 during the same period (KD1067 to KD1255).

The increase in pay for Kuwaiti women in private sector was good in comparison to that in government sector. Over the five-year period, their salaries grew by an average of KD176, making their average salary KD974 per month.
