The Interior Ministry in Kuwait confirmed the renewal of 611,455 work permits online for foreign residents in a single week, owing to exceptional circumstances due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The figure includes the period from 29th May to 4th June, including automatic renewal of 313,273 Iqamats in accordance with a related ministerial decree.
The Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Anis Al Saleh ordered renewal of all Iqamats and visit visas that have 31st May as expiry. The renewal was done taken into consideration the suspension of air travel to and from Kuwait due to the spread of coronavirus.
Last month Kuwait extended the automatic renewal for additional three months. The Interior Ministry has established a range of online services through its website (www.moi.gov.kw) aiming to save time and efforts to its nationals and expats and to protect public health.
