Kuwait Ministry launches new online services to curb spread of virus

In order to further boost social distancing to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait launched new online services.

Now, residents can transfer their visas from one passport to another, modify their names in English, and renew family and sponsor residents on the website www.moi.gov.kw Residency renewals online will only be open to those whose visas have expired in March, the statement from Ministry said.

The partial curfew imposed by the government on 22nd March begins at 5pm until 4am. This was imposed due to non-compliance with instructions to stay at home. For people working in vital sectors, the Civil Defense Committee will issue IDs, which will permit their movement during the curfew hours, said Anas Al-Saleh, the Deputy Premier and Interior Minister.

Anybody breaking the curfew rules would be imprisoned for upto three years and will be fined $32,267, he pointed out. So far, Kuwait recorded a total of 556 cases, one death and 99 recoveries from covid-19 pandemic.
