Kuwait expats with valid visa can stay outside country for 12 months

02 June 2020

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has permitted expatriates who have valid residency visa to stay outside Kuwait for 12 months, instead of six months, owing to exceptional circumstances arising out of the global pandemic.

All types of visit visas, and visas of domestic workers who entered the country on work permits, and have been unable to process their residence visas and get stamped in their passports, have been granted time till 31st August for procedures.

Resident expatriates whose visas expire by end of May have been granted a free three-month extension until 31st August.

The extension of grace periods for visa renewals is, however, applicable only to individuals whose visas expire by 31st May, and are still in Kuwait.

This is the second such extension granted by the Interior Ministry, as earlier, the ministry granted a three-month grace period between March and May.
