In order to regulate the labour market, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has included more professions of residents in Kuwait to academic qualifications. This is also done to prevent marginal workers from obtaining designations that would enable them to take advantage of benefits associated to titles of work permits.
In connection with this, PAM has included six new titles to work permits like swimming lifeguard, scuba diving instructor, diving instructor, water skiing supervisor and water skiing coach. To grant these titles, the individual should possess a higher education certificate, and a diploma in that respective discipline.
The approved titles pertaining to the scientific level crossed 1800 professions registered with the authority’s automated system. More titles are expected to be included during the coming period.
Further, it is said that the names that were linked form part of the Gulf Manual for Professional Description and Employment, containing 4109 professions.
PAM further added work is in progress to identify occupational titles in the labour market, and link them to automated system, and assess the need based on the licenses issued, this procedure is a commitment by the GCC nations to standardize the names and symbols of their professions in the labour market.
