Kuwait has imposed a lockdown on the areas of Mahboula and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. The decision was made in addition to extending a partial curfew by two hours on Monday to be between 5 pm until 6 am, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The extension of partial curfew by two hours in the morning to run from 5 p.m. (1400 GMT) until 6 am was effective Monday until further notice. The interior minister urged people to stay indoors even during non-curfew hours.

On Monday, the cabinet said all ministries and government institutions would now remain on holiday until April 26.

Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh said, “It would be useful to have gradual extension of the curfew”, calling on the public to stay indoors even when the curfew ends.

Health Minister Shaikh Dr Bassel Al-Sabah, addressing the same news conference, said health authorities were in the process of containment to find out who were the sources of the virus, as well as containing the sick. He concluded that the ministry was undergoing its measures in coordination with the World Health Organisation.
