Informed sources told Al-Qabas daily that the Philippine embassy’s shelter housing runaway domestic workers has been evacuated in cooperation and coordination between the Philippine embassy, the Public Authority for Manpower workforce and the residency affairs investigation department of the Ministry of Interior, reports Al- Qabas daily.

The sources said about 415 OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) were in the shelter affiliated to the Philippine embassy, and they were all transferred to the shelter belonging to PAM and will transfer 285 to the deportation center in 3 batches, who will then be deported to their country in less than 48 hours.

The sources added that the deportation prison has been on high alert in preparation for receiving the first batch of the Filipinos, saying after carrying out all procedures, including examining and photographing them, and ending all other legal procedures they will be deported.

The Ministry of the Interior is currently holding 150 Filipinos at the shelter center due to various cases against them, including criminal offenses, misdemeanors, and labor disputes. Collaborative efforts will be made with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Manpower to expedite the necessary procedures for their repatriation to their home country. The Ministry has made significant efforts to provide healthcare and logistical services to the workers in accordance with international agreements and humanitarian standards.
