Kuwait: Prices of cigarettes in the local market witnessed a steep decline recently.

Cigarette prices fall 28- 33 per cent — the steepest decline in recent times, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources from the tobacco trade sector.
According to concerned tobacco traders sources in Kuwait, electronic devices are igniting competition on the local market, especially the spread of single-use devices and their prices close to the prices of traditional cigarettes, which have increased competition.
The sources estimated that single use e-cigarettes have attracted a significant number of smokers during the past months who have changed over from traditional cigarettes.
In related news, Kuwait is ranked first in the Gulf in terms of smoking rate as 39.9 percent of men and three percent of women in the country are smoking, Al- Jarida reported quoting Dr Amal Al-Yahya from the Ministry of Health.
Considering this, 28 to 33 percent decrease for some of the most popular brands is a momentous decline.
