The English School (Fahaheel) Kuwait is a co-educational day school located in Mangaf, Kuwait. It was the first school in South Kuwait to provide English education.
The English School Fahaheel has served the expat community here for almost half a century now. Their aim is to provide the very best in British education for all our pupils in a supportive and caring environment.

In 1968, expatriates founded the school in South Kuwait. Following the closure of the school opened by the Kuwait Oil Company for the children of its employees, the school built an extra block of classrooms and an assembly hall to accommodate the displaced students. After the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait in 1991, Iraqi army used the school premises as a command center and most of the school property was either destroyed or looted. After the liberation of Kuwait in 1991, the school was rebuilt with help from the British Army. In January 2005 The English School Fahaheel moved to newly-built and purposefully-designed premises within Mangaf, with impressive school access and near to the sea.

In the Middle School Department (Year 3 to Year 6) the teaching programme is based upon the National Curriculum of England and the Middle School Department has reviewed and continues to update the curriculum in line with the New Primary Strategy (June 2006) and has introduced such innovations considered appropriate for the development of Literacy and Numeracy skills. The curriculum in the Upper School Department of The English School Fahaheel is designed to provide a balanced, broad and rich education as preparation for university courses within the Middle East and further afield.

IGCSE is a balanced international curriculum which is designed to encourage high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning. The curriculum consists of a course of study which is usually examined at the end of two years, although students at ESF are given the opportunity to sit the examinations in some subjects at the end of one year, which is equivalent in standard to the international GCE Ordinary Level and British GCSE examinations.
IGCSE is used by schools in over 90 countries throughout the world and has been recognized as a qualification for matriculation purposes by universities in the United Kingdom and in many other
countries.

It provides an ideal preparation for Higher Level courses such as –
• British Advanced Level and AICE.,
• American SAT and APT.,
• International Baccalaureate,
• Egyptian University degree courses,
• British University Foundation courses,
• American University Foundation courses
• Kuwait University Degree courses.

Almost all universities, especially in the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering, look for applications from students who have been successful in examinations at a level higher than IGCSE.

This is one of the reasons ESF offers students the opportunity to sit Advanced Supplementary Level (A/S) subjects in the May/June of Year 11. The standard of the syllabus contents in A/S Level programmes of study is the same educationally as that of the Advanced Level (‘A’ Level) examination in England
